I’m going to be a 20-foot-long ANIMATRONIC GOMORA for Halloween
Well, you can stop trying now. You’re not going to win that costume party. I’m going to come to it in a monstrous Gomora costume as big as a tree, shooting smoke and lighting up my monster eyes. Unless you come dressed as Ultraman and vanquish me (unlikely) I’ll be taking home first prize.
The costume is being tested and sold as part of a promotion for an upcoming movie called, I kid you not, “Mega Monster Battle: Ultra Galaxy Legend.” If that’s not the greatest movie of all time, then they will need to be indicted on charges of false advertising.
Video: Google Voice does translation too – in a way
Oh, it is a strange world we live in. Our phones are computers, our computers are supercomputers, and our bikes are rocket bikes. So why should it seem strange when our email provider translates incoming voicemails?
This one in particular shows how far technology has come. If only the caller had something more interesting to say.

“Working” Apple iPhone Costumes Just Plain Win [Costumes]
Powered by a car battery and full-size 42-inch LCD TVs, these working iPhone Halloween costumes from Apple costume savants “Reko and John” are surely iPhone fanaticism manifested in physical form. Updated.
Amazingly, this is not the first time the Savio created human-sized iPhone costumes. In 2007, with the help of Bobby Hartman, that duo crafted smaller and simpler versions with 37-in. screens that could only display looped videos of real iPhone screens in use.
This year, however, shit got real:
With some heavy researching and some solid determination [John] Savio finally found a solution. He managed to modify the software on the iPhone to allow a live dual image output to the large 42″ lcd tv while maintaining the image in landscape mode [...] The team has about $2000 into the two costumes and has no regrets
Two grand for one night of incredibly geeky fun. Did I mention each of these weigh 85 pounds?
Dudes got to work on their high fives though. Napoleon Dynamite there got left hanging something fierce.
Update: Corrected the creators’ names for this version and the 2007 version. Thanks for the heads-up, Amanda. [YouTube Mac Rumors via TUAW]
Quick Look: 13.3-inch Acer Timeline
I know everybody is excited to start their weekend but the bell doesn’t dismiss you, I dismiss you. So before you go, I’m gonna tell you about this new 3.5-pound Acer Timeline ultraportable that just came out yesterday.
First, the keyboard is gorgeous. It’s like looking at a pretty girl but not the kind of girl that’s too good for you, but more the girl who shows up at your party, does a keg stand, and then asks “Who wants to play Madden?” Pretty but accessible, is what I’m saying. It looks nice, but perhaps more importantly it’s easy to type on.
Second, it’s a good deal (I bought it on Amazon for $600). You get a 3.5-pound frame, a 1.3GHz Intel SU4100 CPU, 3GB of DDR3 RAM, 320GB SATA hard drive, Windows 7 Home Premium, and a six-cell battery which Acer claims is good for up to 8 hours.
Thirdly, thusly, and finally, please check out the above video for a quick hands on. Unfortunately, I won’t be able to review this computer because it’s a gift for my mother-in-law’s 60th birthday. I’d like to make it clear that I didn’t spend all $600 of my own money on the computer. I don’t want to get any aspiring bloggers’ hopes up about making enough money to throw down $600 on a birthday present for your mother-in-law. You’ll need to split $600 presents multiple ways for your entire life. But you do get to play with toys a lot.

Video hilarity: Windows 7 launched on a MacBook Pro on NBC’s The Today Show
Oh, dear. Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer was on The Today Show (international viewers: The Today Show is a morning news and entertainment program that airs on NBC, a big TV network here) to unveil Windows 7. Call me crazy, but isn’t that a first-gen MacBook Pro in the background? Good job, NBC!
I’ve embedded the video from Hulu for our U.S. readers, and for international readers here’s a few screencaps:

Once again, bravo, NBC, for a job well done! (And people call us sloppy, with a budget one-zillionth that of The Today Show!)
