AirPlay for Windows Media Center does exactly what you’re thinking it does
This isn’t the first time Windows has been invited to the AirPlay party, but Thomas Pleasance’s AirPlay for Windows Media Center addin seems to already be one of the smoother combinations we’ve seen and it’s still in beta. Unsurprisingly, it does what the name says, so after installing Apple’s Bonjour service and the free client on your Media Center PC you should be able to stream video or pictures to it (there’s no support for music yet) from an iPad or iPhone with a simple click. The Digital Lifestyle has already gotten a quick hands-on with the app and got it working seamlessly as seen above, check that out for more details or hit the source link to download the necessary software to make it all work.

CinemaNow 2.0: 3D, 1080p, Android & WinMo get a taste of online movie distribution
Thought digital delivery would get left behind in the jump to 3D? Roxio’s CinemaNow 2.0 platform is ready to build on the success of its predecessor — already embedded in many devices and powering the online stores for Blockbuster, Best Buy and Zip.ca — and flip the switch bringing streamed or downloaded 1080p or 3D, plus the ability to add additional background info on each movie or previously disc-exclusive extras like multiple audio tracks, subtitles and more. Also new for 2.0 are plans for access on Android and Windows Mobile devices. We’re still thinking a combo of lower prices, all you can eat subscriptions or a disc tie-in is the logical next step, but we’ll wait for a CES demo to ask about that, and whether the new features will be backwards compatible on old hardware.

Netflix streaming purportedly hitting Nintendo’s Wii next
Mmhmm. We see precisely where this is going. First came Microsoft’s Xbox 360, then came the PlayStation 3. Now, the beast that is Netflix’s “Watch Instantly” is coming to Nintendo’s Wii… or that’s the scuttlebutt, anyway. According to StreamingMedia, an undisclosed source close to the project has confirmed that the Big N is currently testing Netflix streaming on the Wii, and that it’ll be rolled out to the public “very soon.” Our initial reaction is to think that “very soon” will translate into “before the holidays,” though we all know that only time will tell. But hey, when you’ve been waiting for this to happen since March, patience comes naturally.

Netflix Streaming on PS3: Coming Soon [NetFlix]
Uh, holy crap? As prayed/predicated, Netflix streaming will be available “later this year” on the PS3. Like the Xbox 360, it’ll be free with the $8.99-a-month plan. Unlike the 360, you’ll enable Netflix via an “instant streaming Blu-ray disc.”
Apparently, the free disc activates the Netflix mojo via BD-Live, in what must be the best use of BD-Live ever. It looks like you’ll be able to pick out movies or throw stuff into your queue using an onscreen interface, so there’s no going back to the old-school days where you had to add stuff to your queue on your computer before strolling over to your Xbox and TV.
Pop on over to Netflix to reserve the disc now—I have a feeling there’s gonna be a huge demand crush for them. [Netflix, Sony, Thanks Kyle B!]
