Acer’s dualscreen laptop leaks out with Core i5 CPU?

We knew dualscreen laptops were the future after our Toshiba Libretto review, but unfortunately for Toshiba theirs was a future attempted too soon. Acer, however, is apparently testing a rig that might be powerful enough to do the trick — pictures bequeathed to Tech Review Source purportedly show a 2.67GHz Intel Core i5 processor (likely a Core i5-580M) with dual fifteen-inch multitouch screens, making both the Libretto and MSI’s 7-incher look positively dated by comparison. Sadly, the publication’s source says this device is “still slow and buggy,” so retail availability is probably a long while off, but now you can tell your friends you too saw the future and it looked reasonably good. Peep a couple more shots of the laptop at our source link while you wipe your sweaty palms off.

Lenovo leaks ThinkPad Edge, X100e, T410s, W510, T510 and more ahead of CES

Hey Lenovo, your cards are showing. Just weeks after the FCC tipped us off on a new pair of netbooks that are all but definitely slated for a CES unveiling, Lenovo has no one but its web administrator(s) to blame for this one. A “New product showcase” portal over on the outfit’s site has just revealed a half dozen new lappies that are slated to go on sale starting January 5th – 7th, with the ultra-sleek 13.3-inch ThinkPad Edge leading the way. Said rig boasts up to 7.8 hours of battery life, a dual-core CPU, Windows 7, Bluetooth and WiMAX options, integrated WWAN / GPS, WiFi, a spill-resistant keyboard, three USB ports, a 5-in-1 media card reader and an option for a red paint job. There’s also a sub-3 pound ThinkPad X100e ultraportable with an 11.6-inch display, AMD processor and an only-available-overseas Arctic White color option. The T410, T410s, T510 and W510 are bringing up the rear, with their (admittedly brief) specification lists spelled out in the source links below.

[Thanks, Jake and Daniel]

Droid Eris turns up in Verizon training course

Again, we have no idea why Verizon is burying the launch of the HTC Droid Eris alongside the Motorola Droid tomorrow (well, apart from the slow CPU and older Android build) but if you had any doubts that Big Red was going to launch this riff on the Hero, well, these screenshots of the employee training course should put those to rest. Interestingly, the buttons and logo placement are slightly different from the pic that was leaked to gdgt, but this version certainly looks like what Eric Schmidt was holding the other day, so we’re thinking this is the final iteration. We’ll see what’s what tomorrow, we suppose.

[Thanks to everyone who sent this in]

The TwitterPeek is… a Peek for Twitter?

Peek’s never been one to shy away from the wacky and opportunistic marketing schemes but launching a whole product just for Twitter? That’s courage, drive, and possibly a mental health issue. Yet here’s the TwitterPeek — what looks to be the same old Peek you know, love, and probably haven’t purchased, stripped of its email and SMS functionality and re-oriented towards telling the entire world too much about your body and what you’re doing to it every waking moment of the day. Now, to be fair, we’re getting a distinctly strange feeling of phoniness about this whole thing, but there’s already an Amazon listing and a picture of the box has already surfaced on — where else? — Twitter, so this could really be happening. Just think about that for a second. And then tweet about it, of course.

Motorola Droid Unexpectedly Appears on Motorola’s Site Ahead of Schedule [Leaks]

Motorola is set to officially announce the Droid for Verizon on October 28th, but it popped up on Moto’s official site with full specs and more detail than we’ve seen so far.

This leak (or whatever it is) confirms a lot of things we already knew: The Droid will be packing Android 2.0 (Eclair), has a 3.7-inch touchscreen, 5MP camera, blah blah blah. It also will have a “Notification Panel,” which could be a light like the alert light BlackBerrys have had for years (that’s not a dig, it’s an extremely useful feature), a 1400mAh battery (rated at 385 minutes usage, 270 hours standby), pretty extensive audio and video codec support, a video camera, microUSB port, and 3.5mm headphone jack. It’s also listed as having the WebKit HTML 5 browser with Flash 10 support, though the Flash is noted to be arriving sometime in 2010.

This handset is shaping up to be a mighty impressive piece of hardware. Check back with us in the coming days for more info as we get it. [Boy Genius Report]
