Kenwood AS-iP70 converges picture frame, alarm clock, FM radio and iPhone dock into one
We know, you’ve seen enough iDevice docks to make your eyes bleed with frustration, but if your bedside table is growing a bit cluttered with all the appendages and chargers you have lying around, you might wanna check this one out. Kenwood’s 7-inch AS-iP70 can serve as a picture viewer, a music player, an alarm clock, or an FM radio, while also packing USB and SD card inputs for alternative media sources. All in all, it looks quite slick and has plenty of buttons to play around with, but be warned that its 800 x 480 resolution is intended for pictures only, there’s no video playback to be had. If that and the ¥25,000 sticker (about $270, launching in Japan this April) have you running scared, you might want to check out Sony’s cheaper, AVI-playing alternative right over here. More pictures of Kenwood’s new hotness can be found at the source.

Dreamcast-mounted iPhone dock sends VMU into jealous rage
It was just over 10 years ago that Sega made the ill-fated move to release the Dreamcast, taking it down a road that would result in the company ditching the hardware scene entirely — well, almost entirely. Out of the deal we got this wonderful white console, which Jay Hauf has remembered with this bit of simple hackery. He’s popped the D-pad out, removed the controller’s bottom-mounted cable, threaded an iPhone dock through, then, apparently, went back to creating cute little box-headed figurines. It’s perhaps not the most amazingly complex controller mod of all time, but a worthy one nevertheless.

Wooden Automata iPhone Dock Cranks From Vertical to Horizontal [DIY]
This Automata iPhone Dock by Murtaza Lakdawala is clever and useful, a combination rarely found in DIY projects. All you have to do is crank and the dock turns from vertical to horizontal.
Just like in cars, the next evolution is to eliminate the crank and have an automatic version. Preferably one that you can push down on once and it’ll crank all the way, but that can also turn slowly when you hold it down, for a more dramatic rotation. [Freewebs]

A Dreamcast Controller Is a Weird Place To Put an iPhone Dock [DIY]
We’re not exactly sure what Jay Hauf was thinking when he modded a Dreamcast controller into an iPhone dock, but at least that iPhone cable looks a lot like the original Dreamcast cable. [iPhone Savior]
