An All-around Great Kids’ Chair

The EVA chair has got everything covered when it comes to children’s seating. Besides being aesthetically playful & vibrantly colored, EVA is also soft, flexible, & super durable for even the roughest horseplay. What’s more is that the flat-pack design arrives as a planar surface & is formed into shape by fastening the symmetrical halves together with string; something kids & parents can work on together. Did I mention that it’s recyclable, eco-friendly, non-toxic, & requires minimal energy to transport? Phew!

Limitless Modular Storage

Container is a modular system that, unlike stationary sideboards, offers users a customizable storage solution that conforms to any unique space, becoming a dresser, media cabinet, tv stand, or anything else imaginable. The solid elm base acts as a “landing dock” for the MDF containers that can be stacked, interchanged, or removed altogether, adapting to the user’s needs. The modularity of the structure is further highlighted by the application of varying materials & finishes on each unique storage compartment.

Spontaneous Design

This Log Chop Bench is a one-off piece defined by one very unconventional process (to say the least). Designers David Long & Antoine Morris avoided concrete blueprints & lent their ax, log, & minimal sketches to a professional Lumberjill (you heard me) who carved out seat spaces with surgical precision. The rough hollows were then clad in fine, hand-sewn upholstery by a motorcycle saddle maker. A little unorthodox, but pretty damn sexy.

The bench was recently auctioned at the href="http://stellar.mercerunion.org/" >Stellar Living 2011 Contemporary Art & Design Auction for Mercer Union in Toronto, Ontario.

Succession Furniture Collection

The eccentric pieces in this new upholstered furniture collection by href="http://www.yankodesign.com/?s="Fredrik+Frg"&x=0&y=0&lang=en" >Fredrik Farg stimulate the imagination with their animal-like form and feeling of movement. The textile and leather shelving and stools even have all the markings of a beast of burden. Individual pieces are bound in rope, heated, and then cut loose to produce a seamless pattern that is as harsh as it is civilized. According to Farg, they’ve become the family he “never knew he had.”

Fancy New Orchidee

Look at this amazing desk. It’s designed by a designer with a most fabulous name: Marc Fish. The desk, called Le Orchidee, is highly influenced by a desk at Musee d’ Orsay in Paris – a desk by the same name. Many cues were taken from the designer of the original desk (Marorelle,) not the least of which was using groundbreaking techniques utilizing design research and experimentation. One of the results is the fabulous seamless tambour roll top – appearing to be one solid piece of wood this top is actually veneered canvas layered upon strips of wood.

Fish informs us that the technique used to attain the effect of the desk top had never before been used on a desk. That’s hot. You’ll see in the gallery below the lovely drawers and sassy angles that make up this fantastic looking desk. Put all your golden paper clips in it.

Steelcase Node Reinvents Classroom Seating

It might be designed for the needs of modern classrooms, but I’m pretty sure I could use one of these Steelcase Node desk chairs around my home/office. Besides better addressing the needs of today’s laptop-toting students with ample bag storage under the seat and an adjustable work desk sized for most notebooks, the Node also swivels and is on wheels making it very easy to re-arrange an entire classroom should a different configuration suit the day’s lesson plan. Whether it’s a lecture or working in smaller groups. The chairs are also available in a variety of color combinations since branding seems to be an important part of higher-learning these days.

Rubbish Table!

All you designers know you’re a messy bunch. Give you a table, a pencil, paper, eraser, sharpener and I’m willing to bet an artful pile of trash would build up all over the floors. No need to be a mess cat anymore. The La Gota Table has a hollow leg with a trash bin at the base. The opening is surrounded by ripples to prevent anything from mistakenly rolling in. The timber parts are made from reclaimed lumber and the table top – a soy based polymer resin with bamboo fillers. HOT! I want one.

Pretty Sleepy Dream Machine

Hallo! All mein liebe. I am about to show you exactly what you might fall asleep upon. And it’s not because it’s got a good voice for storytelling. Nay! It is because it is a bed! It’s called the “Private Cloud Model 1.2″ and it’s a real rocking bed. Really, really, for real, it will rock you to sleep. Or, if in some situations you’re going to be sleeping with a glass of water on your chest, you can also lock the rock.

To lock the rock all you’ve got to do is stop the rock with the feet. The feet fix the bed in stopped motion. You can also use these feet to fix the bed in any slant you’d like for if you’re wanting to read a book or watch the television. And it comes in so many sizes!

Available sizes: (Size matress) 100×200cm, 120×200cm, 140×200cm, 160×200cm, 180×200cm, 200×200cm, 220×200cm.
Holzarten: Ash and oak, nature or nature oiled.

The group that makes this bed usually takes amazing photos with models that bring forth the true essence of the product. Unfortunately, they do not come included. They’re busy sleeping on their own.

Unique As It Gets!

Totally Unique & Awesome, that’s how I like to describe Rocking On The Beach. Be it you actually grooving on the sandscape or rocking yourself to La La Land in this glorious chair! This is one of the things you really got to see to believe so I recommend you hit the jump and catch the two videos that brilliantly showcase the breeze, the sound of waves and the sandy beach via clinging pipes of a rocking chair!
