Hey, Let’s Build 11 Music Boxes Into a Chair Just Because [Video]
I’m not saying this chair—complete with its 11 fully functioning music boxes—isn’t cool (because it definitely is). But it’s tough to argue this thing isn’t the definition of random (because it definitely is). More »
Alessi’s Grooved Chopping Board Could Oust The Wheel As Greatest Invention Of All Time

By Andrew Liszewski
Now seriously, why has it taken mankind so long to make such a simple improvement to the wooden cutting board? Chop was created by French designer Patrick Jouin for Alessi’s Fall & Winter 2010 collection, and simply adds a concave groove around the rim that allows you to slide a plate below the cutting surface and easily scrape chopped food onto it. Unfortunately it’s $100, but fortunately it looks like it’s less complicated to make than a grade school wood shop project. Now where’s my router?

I Can’t Decide If I Need Or Just Want This Want/Need Glass

By Andrew Liszewski
You know I’m not entirely sure what this Want/Need Glass available from Alesina Design is supposed to be illustrating. At first I thought it was maybe a commentary on appreciating the fact that we have a readily available supply of fresh drinking water, and that we shouldn’t waste a single drop or be too greedy when filling up a glass. But now I’m thinking it’s just the result of a bet between designers as to who could get $30 for a single glass that already comes with a hole in it. Somewhere someone’s got a smirk on their face a mile wide.

Steelcase Node Reinvents Classroom Seating

By Andrew Liszewski
It might be designed for the needs of modern classrooms, but I’m pretty sure I could use one of these Steelcase Node desk chairs around my home/office. Besides better addressing the needs of today’s laptop-toting students with ample bag storage under the seat and an adjustable work desk sized for most notebooks, the Node also swivels and is on wheels making it very easy to re-arrange an entire classroom should a different configuration suit the day’s lesson plan. Whether it’s a lecture or working in smaller groups. The chairs are also available in a variety of color combinations since branding seems to be an important part of higher-learning these days.
