RX Re-envisioned

The RXFE electric concept represents how a modern successor to the iconic rotary powered RX7 might take form. Four hub mounted electric motors work in tandem with the rotary engine forming a hybrid power drive. The RXFE’s facelift emphasizes hard lines and masculine detail but maintains the low profile of the two door 90s icon.

Futura Concept

I have always liked vehicles that look more animal than car- which is why I love this wild concept called the Futura 10. The Futura models itself after the Boxfish, a cute and cuddly sea creature (if you can imagine a cuddly gill-bearing scaled vertebrate) that somehow looks more alien than fish. Don’t let those soft lines fool you though, the Futura’s body, like the Boxfish, has great structural strength and proven aerodynamics.

Not a Tiny Airplane – On the Ground

Let me explain first the title: a single-engine Cessna is a type of small airplane, while this project is called “VESNA”, and is an auto that stays flat on the ground. But it’s fantastic! The Vesna is a single-seat electric car. The body of this car is made entirely of a single piece of natural resin with built-in wiring. How wild is that?

The wheels in the front go round and round. They also take the form of a reinforced, perforated rubber belt affixed to the electric motor. They also have an offset center of rotation. And they work with MAGNETS!

The motor is non-synchronous and runs on direct current with high-powered permanent magnets. The motor works with a geared cylinder with teeth matching apertures in the belt tire. Regenerative breaking x mechanical breaking. Steering via “edistribution of torque and braking on the leading wheels, depending on how the steering wheel is turned.”

The rear wheel is even more wild. Even more. The rear wheel? It’s a reinforced-rubber sphere. Fastened to a suspension clip that’s got four pedals, each of which contains a roller for free rotation of the sphere. Breaks and assisted steering work on this as well, as each clip is also connected to the main electrical system.

Refueling of this amazing machine happens via the network of wires that, when the vehicle is parked on it’s special “electro-floor”, connect to a working electric channel which connects to sockets that you can plug in using your regular electric plugs.

So simpo!

Eco Friendly Aston Martin Volare Concept

The transition to more eco-friendly vehicles is relatively easy for mass volume vehicles but what about luxury manufacturers? How can they maintain their luxe and driving appeal while embracing the new “green”? The Aston Martin Volare proposes an easy fix by adopting fuel cells. The stacks are located in the front while the tanks are stored in the rear above the car’s axle – perfect weight distribution.

I like the idea but saying a vehicle will be powered by fuel cells is almost a no brainer. It’s been done so I just wished this concept offered a little something more than Vantage DNA. The proportions are slightly tweaked with much crisper shoulder lines and a floating rear deck but it’s not enough. In fact the rear looks almost Scandinavian. All in all, good idea.

Rolling Down The Hill

eRinGo is predictably this rotund vehicle that can go from a one-wheel car to a three-wheeler, depending upon the deep curves you wish to take. The main central wheel balances the car while in motion, and its panels house the electric motors and other machinery of the car. The two-seater has two steering wheels, allowing either of the drivers to take control. Naturally when one steering is being used, the other gets locked. Two smaller-side wheels get deployed intuitively to stabilize the car when parking or hitting the curves.

As a concept “Green” vehicle it looks neat in this round avatar, but will the design functionality actually work, we really can’t predict.
