Webby is the Android-powered Chumby thing that hasn’t won any awards — yet

What is a Webby? It is, according to its manufacturer Avantis, “a revolutionary new gadget which is like nothing your customers have seen before.” That, of course, assumes they’ve never seen a Chumby, because that’s basically what this is — running Android, though. It features a suite of widgets and little apps that will let you stream internet radio, check your e-mails, cruise RSS feeds, and even wake up to an alarm. Yeah, familiar stuff, but the apparent lack of social networkability is a bit of a bummer. (There doesn’t even seem to be a Twitter client!) It’s powered by a 600MHz ARM CPU with 256MB of RAM, 2GB of internal flash paired with SD and USB expansion. The 3.5-inch touchscreen has a resolution of 320 x 240 and it’ll connect over 802.11b/g/n WiFi. It even has a DMB tuner if you happen to be living in a land that’s similarly equipped. All that controlled by the wonder that is Android 2.1, but for an undisclosed price.

Kenwood AS-iP70 converges picture frame, alarm clock, FM radio and iPhone dock into one

We know, you’ve seen enough iDevice docks to make your eyes bleed with frustration, but if your bedside table is growing a bit cluttered with all the appendages and chargers you have lying around, you might wanna check this one out. Kenwood’s 7-inch AS-iP70 can serve as a picture viewer, a music player, an alarm clock, or an FM radio, while also packing USB and SD card inputs for alternative media sources. All in all, it looks quite slick and has plenty of buttons to play around with, but be warned that its 800 x 480 resolution is intended for pictures only, there’s no video playback to be had. If that and the ¥25,000 sticker (about $270, launching in Japan this April) have you running scared, you might want to check out Sony’s cheaper, AVI-playing alternative right over here. Ask Engadget: Best iPhone 3G (3GS) alarm clock / radio?

We know you’ve got questions, and if you’re brave enough to ask the world for answers, here’s the outlet to do so. This week’s Ask Engadget question is coming to us from Bora (from Turkey, he’ll have you know), who is sick and tired of waking up to bleeps, wails and static-filled tunes not on his iPhone.

“I own an iPhone 3G and I’m looking for a decent speaker / alarm clock for it. I am going to listen music in a mid-sized room, so I want nice quality speakers with solid bass. I also want to use it as an alarm clock, so it would be great if there is such a feature. The price can be low-mid to mid-high range. I was looking at the Klipsch iGroove SXT; it’s powerful, slick and the reviews are good, but it doesn’t have an alarm clock feature. It’s no deal breaker if I can set it up from the iPhone, but I’m not sure. Anyway, I’m open to recommendations. Thanks!”

Don’t front — we know a big swath of you loyal iPhone owners out there also have some sort of docking alarm clock / radio, so why not share your experience(s) with yours? It’s easy, we promise.
